Last Thursday and Friday (March 16-17), DeAndre Gaines, my cousin who owns an app and software development company called Thank you and You’re Welcome participated and performed in South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX. He also creates music he performs, which he did last week at SXSW. South by Southwest is every March in Austin, Texas. SXSW has festivals that celebrate the arts--film and music industries.
So, my cousin had a vendor table, and he performed his hiphop music, so as any entrepreneur would do, he and his team were posting pictures from the event. I saw his vendor table that said, “Thank you and You’re Welcome” along with his logo—two hands clasped together as if shaking hands. I began to reflect how often I hear the words/phrases "thank you" and "you’re welcome." As a child, we had to say them all time to everyone for every bit of kindness shown to us. Honestly, I don't hear them as much. I have come to the conclusion that I don't hear them as much; it is not as common. I miss people telling me those "thank you" and "you're welcoome."
We, as a society, really need to cultivate gratitude. Cultivate is try to acquire or develop a quality, sentiment, or skill--a habit. In order to cultivate, we must acquire, learn and develop, or develop, grow and start to exist, experience, or possess. To possess or achieve something, it takes practice… You must do it often; live it. So what is gratitude? Gratitude is being thankful and the ability to show appreciation for and to return kindness. To capitulate, we must acquire and grow in our ability to show appreciation for and to return kindess. We need to practice it often. We must cultivate gratitute.
To cultivate gratitude, we must:
When was the last time you have had someone tell you "thank you" or "you’re welcome" to you? Was it today? When was the last time you said those words, “Thank you” and “You’re Welcome,” and genuinely meant them?
The upcoming week PRACTICE being appreciative and returning kindess. Say "thank you" and "you're welcome" even when you think it is understood. Say it to strangers, people you do not know. Say it often. Do not go through the day without cultivating gratitude.
Say "Thank you" and "You're welcome!"
Aspire for more.

Another weekend in a hotel room for a conference... As I was taking a shower at the end of a very long day, I realize this sign above on the tile above the handle to turn on the water. Immediately, I smiled. See, today I was the Feature Friday host for Women of Worth Facebook Group (bit.ly/JoinWOWToday), and I discussed the idea of uncovering your passion, your purpose, and using that gift to serve others--to bless others, to contribute greater to the universe. I also shared how when we acknowledge our gift and speak it into the Universe that God hears that and aligns all that we need to use that gift for good into alignment.
So when I saw this sign in the shower, it all came divinely together. We must "pull shower handle to activate water flow." We must exert force (pull) to make something happen (activate). Water symbolizes cleansing, healing, life, and freedom. So when we take control of our life using force in order to make something happen, we can experience cleansing, healing, and freedom. When we are self-aware to know what that action is, then our mind, body, and spirit can be cleansed. Powerful! Don't you think so? Agree or Disagree? I will write that again: when we take control of our life using force in order to make something happen, we can experience cleansing, healing, and freedom.
Force. Force is the energy, the strength we need. So not only do we participate in some sort of action--movement in a positive direction, we must also be strong (confident) in the energy or force we need to experience true healing, deliverance, freedom, cleansing, etc... It is at that point that our gift is unburied. We have uncovered our gift. It is then, we can nurture our gift. It is at that point, we realize our worth.
What is your gift? Are you taking the necessary actions to utilize that gift or nurture the gift? What are you burying?
I suggest we take a moment to write down our action plan. Will you PULL and ACTIVATE? What are some steps you can do over the next month? It's time exert force.
Feel free to answer the questions listed above in this comments below... How will you PULL and ACTIVATE?

I can't let today go by without wishing all the women around the world, "Happy Women's Day!" As I reflect on those times that were most challenging, I can note many women who helped me, supported me, and loved them along the way. With each phase of my life, I was blessed to have a woman pull me out, come through, or just plain slap me out of it. These women are my champions. Thank you all!
My #1 champion and SHero is my mother, whom I call Mama. She is truly amazing. Her powers are no match for adversity and hard times. Mama is always there. She saves me...and have saved me so many times. I could not navigate the world with ease without my Mama. Mama is always in the audience. Mama is there cheering me on. Mama will give her last, so I can have what I want or need. Mama sacrifices for me. Mama also pushes me. One driving force that makes me aspire for more each and every day is to make Mama proud.
Who is the woman that pushes you? Who is the woman that claps for you? Who is the one woman that you know will come through?
Welcome to the Room of More!
This week, I am attending a conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I have committed to particpating in more leadership roles within the organization. While attending the Leadership Congress session yesterday, I began to introduce myself to another attendee. We hit it off right away. I aim to seeing others for who they "really" are and honoring their presence and narrative. We talked all day. Of course, I invited her to take more of a leadership role along side me. In additon, I volunteered to collaborate with her for a session for next year's conference. Then, at the afternoon reception, she said (out of nowhere) do you know what I like about you, why I felt okay talking to you; I said no. I began to hold my breathe. I began to wonder if I wanted to know that answer. She proceded to tell me, "I spoke to you because immediately I notice you were warm, genuine or real, and you were involved." OMG! This made my heart smile. I expressed my gratitute. It feels good to know that someone's first impression was positive and reflected warmth and love.
So this post is just to encourage you! And remember:
1) Be YOU! Be authentic and navigate the world authentically. Interact authentically.
2) Offer more! Push others toward their greatness. If you see something in them, share it.
3) Get involved! If you are passionate and interested in certain areas or roles, volunteer to serve. Be willing to commit to something greater than yourself.
4) Let love lead! Lead with your heart. Come from a place of love and support.
5) Express gratitude! Be sure to tell others how much you appreciate them in the moment. Don't wait.
6) SMILE! As you interact authentically, share more, get involved, lead with love, and express gratitiude, be sure to do it all with a SMILE.
Then, the doors of greatness will open, and you can walk right into your destiny.
